Cricket on Zeetius

Cricket tournament software and live scoring

Zeetius runs cricket competitions from team entry to the last ball: squads, fixtures, grounds, umpires and results in one connected record. Matches are scored live from the ground and appear on the Zeetius live score board innings by innings, with runs, wickets and overs, and the target when a side is chasing.

Any overs format

T20, 50-over, shorter school formats or multi-day matches, set up per competition rather than fixed by the software.

Fixtures that fit your grounds

League, pool and knockout fixtures scheduled across the grounds and match days you actually have.

Live innings scores

Runs, wickets and overs for each side, the batting team marked, and runs needed from balls remaining in a chase.

Competition formats

How do you run a cricket league or tournament on one system?

Cricket is played in formats that differ by the length of the game as much as by the shape of the competition. A T20 tournament can fit several matches into a day on one ground, a 50-over league needs a full day for each fixture, and multi-day cricket spreads a single match across two or more days. Zeetius treats the number of overs and the number of innings as settings of each competition, so the same organisation can run all three.

The shape of the competition is set separately. Zeetius Tournaments runs knockouts, round robins, leagues and team events, so a school cricket cup can be a straight knockout, a district competition can play pools before semi-finals, and a league can run every team against every other across a season.

Cricket leagues are usually decided by points for wins, ties and no-results, with net run rate used to separate teams level on points. These rules differ between associations and age groups, so tell us how your competition ranks teams and we will set the format up with you.

  • Limited-overs cricket. T20, 50-over or any shorter format an age group plays, with the number of overs per side set by the organiser.
  • Multi-day cricket. Two innings per side across more than one day, where the competition calls for it.
  • Categories. Under-14, under-16, under-19, open, boys, girls and women's cricket, each with its own format.

Teams and squads

Cricket team entries, squads and player eligibility

In cricket the entry is a team of eleven with a wider squad behind it. Each club, school or academy registers its team against the tournament listing, names its players and pays the entry fee online. Eligibility, such as the age limit for a category, is checked as players register, so an ineligible player is caught before the toss rather than after the match.

For an association, the squad is drawn from players who are already members. Zeetius Federation keeps one record for every player, club and official across seasons, with renewals and transfers kept current, so a player who changes club is registered for the right side. At multi-day events, Zeetius Connect accredits players, coaches and team staff in advance and handles their entry, meals and accommodation with QR validation.

Umpires and scorers are part of the same record. Technical official management nominates and allocates umpires to each fixture, so the organiser knows who is standing at which ground and nobody is booked for two matches at once. On a weekend with T20 matches running back to back, that also shows which umpires are free for the afternoon fixture.

Fixtures and grounds

Cricket fixtures and ground scheduling

A cricket tournament is limited by its grounds and by the length of a match. A ground that can host three T20 games in a day can host only one 50-over fixture, and a multi-day match blocks the ground for its whole duration. Zeetius Tournaments generates the fixtures and the schedule automatically, and the organiser can move a match to another ground or day when the plan changes.

Weather is part of cricket scheduling. A rain delay on one ground can push a fixture into the next slot, and a washed-out match may need to be replayed or recorded as a no-result under the competition's rules. Keeping every ground on one schedule lets the organiser see the effect of a delay on the rest of the event and rearrange fixtures before teams travel.

Each fixture records the two teams, the ground, the start time and the officials, so team managers, umpires and spectators all work from the same published schedule rather than a message forwarded the night before. When a match is moved because of rain or a ground becomes unfit, the change reaches everyone from the same place.

Live scoring

Cricket live scores: runs, wickets and overs

Cricket on Zeetius is scored live on the Zeetius multi-sport scoresheet by a scorer at the ground. After the toss decides which side bats first, the score builds innings by innings, and parents, teams and supporters who are not at the ground follow it on the public live score board at zeetius.com/live/livescore.

Each cricket match appears as a live card with a line for each side showing runs, wickets and overs, and the team currently batting is marked. While the first side bats the card shows its run rate. Once the second side is chasing, the card shows the runs needed, the balls remaining and the required run rate, which is the figure most followers of a limited-overs match want to see.

The score is entered once, at the ground, so the result moves into the fixtures and the competition record without anyone copying it from the scorebook at the end of the day. In a pool stage, teams waiting to find out whether they have reached the semi-finals see the result as soon as the last ball of the chase is bowled.

  • Innings score. Runs and wickets for each side with the overs bowled, the total including extras such as wides, no-balls, byes and leg byes.
  • The chase. Runs needed from balls remaining, with the required run rate.
  • Every ground on one board. Filter the live score board by sport and tournament to follow a single event.

Associations and federations

Cricket association and federation software

A cricket association affiliates clubs, registers players each season, appoints umpires and sanctions the competitions played under its name. Zeetius Federation brings these together, with separate workspaces for national, state, district and club tiers, so a district association can manage its own members and competitions while the parent body sees every club and every fixture.

When results are in, rankings and certificates are prepared from the real outcomes, and every player in a school or junior competition can receive a certificate generated straight from the results. Membership fees and entries are paid online, and automatic email and SMS messages tell clubs and players about renewals, fixtures and results.

The association's public website, membership cards and certificates can carry its own name and branding, and Zet AI lets the office ask questions about its own membership and participation data in plain language instead of building a spreadsheet for each board meeting.

Academies and clubs

Cricket academy management software

Cricket academies run batches by age and by discipline, with batting, bowling and wicketkeeping sessions often taking place in the nets at the same time. Zeetius Academy holds a profile for every player, records attendance at each session and keeps assessments over the term, so coaches can see who is progressing and who needs more work.

Training plans and timetables are built once and run across batches, coaches and centres. Parents see their own child's attendance, assessments and fees, and fees, coach payroll and expense claims are handled in the same system as the training. Academies with more than one centre can manage each separately and see the whole organisation together.

Academies can also run internal matches and manage entries to outside tournaments through competition management, so a player's academy record and match record sit side by side instead of in separate files kept by different coaches. Selecting a squad for an under-16 tournament then starts from the attendance and assessments the coaches have already recorded.

FAQ

Cricket on Zeetius: questions, answered

Something else on your mind? Talk to our team.

Which cricket formats can Zeetius run?

The number of overs and the number of innings are set for each competition, so T20, 50-over, shorter school formats and multi-day matches can all be run, along with knockouts, pools and leagues.

What does the cricket live score show?

Each match card shows runs, wickets and overs for both sides and marks the batting team. In a chase it shows the runs needed, the balls remaining and the required run rate.

Who scores the match?

A scorer at the ground enters the score on the Zeetius multi-sport scoresheet, and it reaches the public live score board as it is entered.

Can we use net run rate in our league table?

League points and tie-break rules, including net run rate, differ between competitions, so we agree how your table is decided and set the competition up to match.

Can clubs and schools register their own teams?

Yes. Teams are entered online with their squads and entry fees, and eligibility such as age limits is checked as each player is registered.

Does Zeetius help with umpire appointments?

Yes. Umpires are nominated and allocated to fixtures through technical official management, so every match has its officials and nobody is booked twice.
