Handball on Zeetius
Zeetius runs handball competitions from team entries to final certificates. Fixtures are generated as pools, leagues or knockouts, and officials record goals and run the match clock on the Zeetius multi-sport scoresheet, with live scores shown on the Zeetius live score page.
Each match card shows the score, the running clock and the period, from the first half through half-time to extra time.
Teams enter with a named squad, and every player is checked against age category and registration as the entry is made.
Players, clubs and referees registered once with the federation, and the same records used for academy batches and results.
Match format
Handball is played seven-a-side, six court players and a goalkeeper, with substitutions made on the fly through the substitution zone. A senior match is two halves of 30 minutes with a break between them, and junior categories often play shorter halves. The half length is set for each event.
Discipline is part of the record of a handball match. Players can be warned, given two-minute suspensions that leave their team a player short, or disqualified, and each team has a limited number of team timeouts. These details matter to coaches and to the timekeeper and scorekeeper at the table.
What happens after a drawn match depends on the competition. A league may accept a draw, while a knockout needs a winner through extra time, a shootout of seven-metre throws, or both. How a drawn knockout match is decided is configured for each event to match your rules.
Live scoring
Officials record each goal on the Zeetius multi-sport scoresheet, which also runs the match clock. The scoresheet sends the moments the clock starts and stops rather than repeatedly sending the time, so every screen following the match works out the same time from the same events, even after a dropped connection.
On the Zeetius live score page a handball match appears as a card with the two teams, the score, the running clock and the period: first half, half-time, second half or extra time. Where a shootout is played, its score is shown beneath the main score.
Because the score and the clock come from the scoresheet at the table, the live card follows the match as the timekeeper and scorekeeper run it, through half-time, the second half and any extra time. Parents, club members and team managers who cannot be at the venue can follow every court of a championship from the public live score page, and the result is published as soon as the match ends.
Competition structure
Handball championships usually run several categories together: under-age and senior, for men and women, and sometimes school or college divisions. In Zeetius Tournaments each category is its own event with its own entry fee, squad limits and draw, under one tournament listing that carries your organisation's branding.
Teams enter online with a named squad and pay the entry fee in the same step. Each player on the squad can be checked against age category and registration status at entry, which settles eligibility before the team arrives at the venue.
Beach handball has its own rules and scoring, quite different from the indoor game. Where you run it, it can be listed as a separate event with its own entries and fixtures; tell us how you want beach handball matches scored so the event is set up to match.
Draws and fixtures
Most handball tournaments start with groups and finish with a knockout. Zeetius Tournaments generates pools and round-robin fixtures from your entries, seeds teams from rankings or previous results, and draws the group qualifiers into a bracket for the semi-finals and final.
Because a handball match can end level, group tables usually award points for a draw as well as a win, then separate teams on head-to-head results and goal difference. The points system and the tie-break order are configured for each event to follow your competition rules.
League seasons, such as a club or district league played over several months, can be set up as a single or double round robin. Fixtures are published in advance, the table is updated after each round, and the same team records carry forward into the knockout championships later in the season.
Courts and officials
Handball referees usually work in pairs, supported by a timekeeper and a scorekeeper at the table. Zeetius Tournaments nominates and allocates these officials to each match in the same system that holds the schedule, so a referee pair is never double-booked across two courts.
A handball match takes longer than its playing time once warm-ups, half-time, timeouts and any extra time are counted. Schedules need realistic slots, and teams playing twice in a day need rest between matches, especially in multi-day championships.
Zeetius Tournaments runs several courts at once and keeps the schedule adjustable in real time. When a match overruns, the next fixtures can be moved to another court and the published schedule updates straight away.
Federations, clubs and academies
A handball federation registers players, clubs and referees, sanctions events and publishes rankings. Zeetius Federation keeps one record for every member, with renewals, transfers between clubs and a complete history, and districts and clubs can have their own logins while the federation sees every member and every event.
Membership fees and entries are paid online and recorded against the member, and email and SMS notifications go out automatically. Referees are accredited in the same system and nominated for the events they are qualified to officiate. Rankings and certificates are prepared from real results.
Handball clubs and academies can run their coaching on Zeetius Academy: batches by age, attendance and assessments recorded by coaches on the mobile app, and fees, coach payroll and claims in the same system. Parents see their own child's attendance, assessments and fees, and nothing else.
For national or multi-day championships, Zeetius Connect handles accreditation, accommodation, meals and transport for teams and officials, with QR codes scanned at entry.
