Sepak takraw on Zeetius
Sepak takraw is volleyball played with the feet, and its championships mix regu, doubles and team events across several age groups. Zeetius Tournaments takes the entries, builds pools and knockouts and schedules the courts, while Zeetius Federation keeps players, officials and rankings on record and Zeetius Academy supports the young players learning the game.
Three-player regus, doubles and multi-regu team events run side by side, each with its own entries and draw.
Sets, points targets and pool ranking rules are set per event to match the rules your federation publishes.
Confirmed results feed rank lists and certificates, by age group and event, without anyone retyping them.
The game
Sepak takraw is played over a net on a court about the size of a badminton doubles court. Players keep a woven ball in the air using their feet, knees, chest and head, never their hands, and each side has up to three touches to return it. The kicking serve, the acrobatic spike and the block at the net give the game its character.
The standard event is the regu, three players a side: the server, often called the tekong, who serves from a circle at the back of the court, and two front players who set and attack. Each player's role is distinct, so team sheets record who plays which position.
Matches are commonly played with rally scoring, best of three sets, with sets to 21 points and a margin of two points needed to win. Points caps, the length of a deciding set and the serving rules vary between federations and events, so the format is configured by the organiser for each competition.
Events and entries
A sepak takraw championship usually offers more than one event. The regu event is played three against three, doubles events are played two against two, and quadrant events four against four. The team event brings several regus from the same side together, with the tie decided by the number of individual regu matches won.
Zeetius Tournaments publishes one listing for the championship, with each event and age group as its own competition with its own entry fee, eligibility rules and draw. Teams enter online with named rosters, and every player is checked against age category and registration status as the entry is made.
Team events need their own structure. A tie between two teams is made up of separate regu matches, so each regu's players are named before the tie, and the team result is calculated from the regu results. If your team event has particular rules for line-ups or deciding matches, tell us and we will discuss how they are set up.
Pools and knockouts
Sepak takraw competitions typically begin with pools and finish with a knockout. Zeetius Tournaments generates pools and round-robin fixtures from the entries, seeds teams from rankings or previous results, and carries the pool qualifiers into a bracket through to the final. Smaller events can be played as a single round robin or a straight knockout.
Pool standings are decided by matches won, then by tie-break rules such as set ratio, point ratio or the result between the tied teams. The order of these rules is configured for each event, so the standings follow the regulations the federation publishes. Zet AI can suggest balanced seeds and keep teams from the same state or club apart in the early rounds.
Courts and officials
A sepak takraw championship runs several events on a small number of courts, and the same players may appear in regu, doubles and team events. Zeetius Tournaments runs every court at once and builds the schedule so that a player is never called to two courts together and has rest between matches, which matters in a sport this physically demanding.
Team event ties are made up of several matches in sequence, so they occupy a court for longer than a single regu match. When a match or a tie runs long, the next fixtures can be moved to a free court and the published schedule updates for everyone. Zet AI can see overruns coming and propose court changes early.
Referees, assistant referees, line judges and scorers are nominated and allocated to matches in the same system as the courts. Officials can be rotated through the day, and Zet AI can suggest referees by grade and availability while avoiding conflicts of interest with the teams on court.
Live scores and results
Sepak takraw on Zeetius is scored live. The scorer at the court enters each rally on the Zeetius multi-sport scoresheet, which is set up for the sets and points target your event plays. Players, coaches, team officials and supporters follow every court on the public live score page at zeetius.com/live/livescore, filtered to sepak takraw, as the score is entered.
Zeetius Federation prepares rank lists from real results by event and age group, which a federation can use to seed future championships and select state and national squads. Every ranking can be traced to the matches that produced it, and a player's record follows them across regu, doubles and team events.
When a match ends, the score entered at the court is confirmed by the referees and published as the official result, set by set. Pool tables and team-event standings update as matches finish, teams see who has qualified and where they play next, and certificates for every participant are generated in bulk from the final results.
Federations and academies
Sepak takraw is governed by national, state and district federations that register players, sanction championships and appoint officials. Zeetius Federation registers players, clubs and officials once and keeps them current through renewals, transfers and seasons, with membership cards, online payments and automatic email and SMS reminders.
Each tier can have its own access, so a district runs its own championship and manages its own members while the state or national federation sees every player and every sanctioned event. Referees are accredited, graded and allocated from the same records, and Zet AI can answer questions such as which junior players have climbed fastest in the rankings.
The kicking skills of sepak takraw take years to learn. Zeetius Academy manages athletes, batches, training plans, attendance and assessments, with fees and coach payroll in the same system. For multi-day championships, Zeetius Connect accredits teams and officials and manages accommodation, meals and transport, and Ztream by Zeetius can stream several courts at once.
