Beach volleyball on Zeetius
Beach volleyball is played in pairs, outdoors, over a weekend of pool matches and knockouts on a handful of sand courts. Zeetius Tournaments takes pair entries, builds the pools and the bracket and keeps the courts moving, while Zeetius Federation turns results into ranking points and Zeetius Academy looks after the players coming through.

Pools of pairs, round-robin fixtures and a knockout bracket for the qualifiers, set up event by event.
Ranking points are kept per player from real results, so a new pair can be seeded from what both partners have earned.
The game
Beach volleyball is played two against two on a sand court, with no substitutions and no fixed positions. Rally scoring applies, so a point is won on every rally whichever pair served. In the standard format a match is best of three sets: the first two sets are played to 21 points and a deciding third set to 15, and every set must be won by two clear points.
Because the game is played outdoors, sun and wind matter. Pairs change ends at regular intervals during each set so that neither side keeps a favourable end for long, and the deciding set changes ends more often. A match between evenly matched pairs can go well beyond 21 in a set, which affects how long each slot on a court needs to be.
Junior, school and recreational events often shorten the format, for example to a single set or a lower points target, so more matches fit into a day. The number of sets and the points target are set by the organiser for each event, and the results are recorded in the format that was actually played.
Entries and eligibility
A beach volleyball event is entered by pairs, but the pair is not a permanent team. Players form a partnership for a season or for a single tournament, split up and play with someone new. Zeetius keeps one profile for each player and records the pair for each event, so a player's results stay with them whoever they played alongside.
Zeetius Tournaments publishes a listing page for each event with its dates, venue, categories and rules, and takes entries and payments online. Both players are checked against age category and registration status as the pair enters, so eligibility questions are settled before the draw rather than on the sand on the first morning.
Most beach events run men's and women's competitions side by side, often with junior age groups and sometimes mixed pairs. Each category is its own event under the one tournament listing, with its own entry fee, eligibility rules, draw and results, and every listing, draw and certificate can carry the organiser's own branding.
Pools and knockouts
The usual shape of a beach volleyball tournament is pool play followed by a knockout. Pairs are seeded into pools, play each other in a round robin, and the leading pairs from each pool go through to a single-elimination bracket. Zeetius Tournaments generates the pools, the round-robin fixtures and the bracket from the entries, and carries the qualifiers forward automatically.
Formats vary with the size of the field and the number of days available. Some events use pools of three or four, some add a qualification tournament before the main draw, and some play the main draw as a straight knockout. The structure, the number of qualifiers from each pool and the pool ranking order are configured for each event.
Seeding in beach volleyball is usually built from both players' ranking points added together, because partnerships change so often. Zet AI can suggest balanced seeds from rankings and recent form and keep pairs from the same club or region apart in the early rounds, with the organiser deciding the final seeding.
Sand courts and officials
Beach tournaments are played on a small number of sand courts, often over long days in the heat, and a pair may play several times between morning and evening. Zeetius Tournaments runs every court at once, builds the schedule so a pair is never called to two courts together, and gives pairs rest between matches.
Match lengths vary: a two-set win can be over quickly, while a tight three-set match can run much longer. When a match overruns, the next fixtures can be moved to a free court and the published schedule updates for everyone. Zet AI can see overruns coming and propose court changes before the queue of waiting pairs builds up.
First and second referees, scorers and line judges are nominated and allocated to matches from the same system as the courts, so officials and courts are planned together. Officials can be rotated through a long day, and Zet AI can suggest referees by grade and availability while avoiding conflicts of interest with the pairs on court.
Live scores and results
Beach volleyball on Zeetius is scored live. The scorer at the side of the sand court enters each rally on the Zeetius multi-sport scoresheet, which is set up for sets and points, including the deciding set and the shorter formats used at junior events. Pairs, coaches, parents and spectators follow every court on the public live score page at zeetius.com/live/livescore, filtered to beach volleyball.
Zeetius Federation prepares rank lists from real results. Ranking points are awarded to each player for the finishing position of their pair, so a player keeps their points when they change partner, and a new partnership can be seeded from what both players have earned. The points table for each tier of event is set by the federation.
When a match ends, the score entered on court is confirmed by the officials and published as the official result, set by set. Pool tables update, qualifiers move into the bracket and pairs see their next opponent and court, while certificates for every participant are generated in bulk from the final results.
Federations, academies and events
Beach volleyball is often run by the same national, state and district bodies that govern indoor volleyball. Zeetius Federation registers players, clubs and officials once and keeps them current through renewals, transfers and seasons, with each tier given its own access while the federation sees every member and every sanctioned event.
Academies and clubs develop beach players alongside, or instead of, indoor squads. Zeetius Academy manages athletes, batches, training plans, attendance and assessments, together with fees, coach payroll and expense claims, and parents see their own child's attendance, assessments and fees. Coaches record sessions on the sand from the mobile app.
Beach events are also showcase events, often on a public beach or a city venue. Zeetius Connect accredits players, officials and staff before they arrive and handles accommodation, meals and transport with QR validation, and Ztream by Zeetius can stream several courts at once, with interviews, highlights and sponsor placements.
