Athletics on Zeetius
An athletics meeting is dozens of events running side by side: sprints and relays on the track, jumps and throws on the infield, sometimes a road race outside the stadium. Zeetius gives organisers, clubs and federations one place to take entries, build heats and field event flights, schedule the timetable, publish results and turn a season of performances into rankings and records.
Track, field, road and combined events with their own age groups, entry rules and rounds, under a single meeting.
Heats, semi-finals and finals for track events, and attempts and flights for field events, configured event by event.
Confirmed results feed rankings, meet records and certificates, so a season's marks are kept rather than retyped.
Event programme
Athletics is not one competition but many. A typical championship programme covers sprints, middle and long distance races, hurdles, the steeplechase and relays on the track, the high jump, pole vault, long jump and triple jump, and the shot put, discus, hammer and javelin. Road races and race walks may be added, and combined events bring several disciplines together over one or two days.
Zeetius Tournaments lets an organiser build the programme event by event. Each event has its own category, age group, gender, entry limit and round structure, so a schools meeting with a handful of sprints and a national championship with a full programme are set up in the same way, and only the events the meeting actually holds appear on the listing.
Combined events need particular care. The decathlon and the heptathlon are scored with points tables, and an athlete's total builds up across the disciplines. Combined events entries, start lists and results by discipline are handled alongside the rest of the programme, and the points tables and scoring rules your federation uses can be discussed with our team.
Entries and eligibility
Entries are where an athletics meeting is won or lost. Zeetius Tournaments publishes a listing page for each meeting with its events, dates, venue and rules, and athletes or their clubs enter and pay online. Eligibility is checked as athletes register, so an athlete cannot enter an age group they do not belong to or exceed the number of events the meeting allows.
Age groups vary between federations and between levels of competition, from under-14 and under-16 categories in schools and clubs to under-18, under-20, senior and masters events. The age groups, the date on which age is calculated and any entry standard or qualifying mark are set by the organiser for each meeting, rather than fixed by the software.
Relay entries are made by teams rather than individuals. A club or state enters a relay team, names its squad and confirms the running order before the declared deadline, and the same athletes keep one profile across their individual events and their relays, so their history stays complete.
Heats and finals
Track events with large entries are run in rounds. Athletes are seeded into heats, usually by their best recent performance, and progress to the semi-finals and the final by finishing position and by fastest losers. The number of rounds, the number of heats and the qualification rule are set per event on Zeetius, so a meeting can run straight finals for small fields and full rounds for large ones.
Lane draws matter in track events up to 400 metres, where athletes stay in their lanes. Start lists for every heat and final show each athlete's lane or position, and they are published once the draw is confirmed, so athletes, coaches and officials know where to report and when.
Field events follow their own rules. In the horizontal jumps and the throws, athletes usually have a set number of attempts, and the best performers often receive further attempts. In the high jump and pole vault, athletes are eliminated after three consecutive failures. The attempt structure, flights and progression of heights for your meeting are configurable, and our team can discuss how you record them.
Scheduling and officials
An athletics timetable has to fit track and field events around each other. Athletes who enter a sprint and a jump, or several relays, need time between their events, and the same officials cannot be on the track and at the throws circle at once. Zeetius schedules events across the track and the field event areas so that clashes are visible before the meeting rather than on the day.
Technical officials are central to athletics. Starters, track judges, field judges, referees and other officials are accredited, nominated and allocated to events in Zeetius Tournaments and Zeetius Federation, so a meeting manager knows who is officiating each event and the federation keeps a record of every official's appointments across the season.
Zet AI helps with the timetable. It can build schedules that respect rest times and avoid athlete clashes, and when the day runs late it proposes changes before the delay spreads through the programme. It can also estimate entries per event, so the organiser books the right number of officials.
Results, rankings and records
Results are published event by event as soon as the officials confirm them, so athletes, coaches and parents can see times, distances and heights without waiting for a printed sheet. Every participant can receive a certificate generated in bulk from the results, and medal winners are read straight from the same confirmed results. Live scoring for your meeting can be discussed with our team.
Across a season, performances become rankings. Zeetius Federation prepares rank lists from real results by event, age group and gender, which is how a federation builds season lists, selection lists for state and national teams and junior development squads. Each ranking can be traced back to the meetings that produced it.
Records give athletics much of its meaning. Meet records, championship records and age-group records can be kept on Zeetius alongside the results that set them, so when a record falls it is recorded once, with the athlete, the meeting and the date, instead of being updated by hand in a spreadsheet that nobody trusts.
Clubs, coaching and federations
Athletics development starts in clubs and academies. Zeetius Academy manages athletes, training groups, plans, attendance and assessments, so a coach can follow each athlete's progress across a season of sessions and competitions. Fees, coach payroll and expense claims sit in the same system, and parents see their own child's attendance, assessments and fees.
Zeetius Federation registers athletes, clubs and officials once and keeps them current through renewals, transfers and seasons. National, state and district bodies each have their own access, so a district works on its own athletes while the federation sees every member and every sanctioned meeting. Fees are paid online and reminders go out by email and SMS.
Championships bring teams, coaches and officials from across a region. Zeetius Connect accredits them online before they arrive and manages accommodation, meals and transport, with QR validation for entry. Ztream by Zeetius can stream the meeting with interviews and highlights, and Zet AI answers questions about the federation's own athletes and results.
