Swimming on Zeetius
A swimming meet is built on entry times. They decide who swims in which heat and which lane, who reaches the final and who qualifies for the next level. Zeetius gives clubs, organisers and federations one place to take entries and entry times, seed heats and finals, schedule sessions, publish results and turn a season of swims into rankings and records.
Swimmers enter each event online with an entry time, checked against the meet's age groups and qualifying times.
Timed finals, heats and finals or semi-finals, configured per event, with relay teams entered by clubs.
Confirmed results feed rank lists, meet records and certificates for every swimmer.
Event programme
A swimming programme is built from four strokes and the distances they are swum over. Freestyle runs from 50 metres to 1500 metres, while backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly are usually swum over 50, 100 and 200 metres. The individual medley combines all four strokes in one swim, in the order butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle.
Zeetius Tournaments lets an organiser build the programme event by event, for long course or short course pools. Each event has its own stroke, distance, gender, age group and round structure, so a club gala with a few sprint events and a state championship with the full programme are set up in the same way.
Meets are usually run in sessions, often a morning session of heats and an evening session of finals. The programme sets the order of events in each session, and the same programme drives the entry list, the start lists and the results, so nobody has to keep separate copies in step.
Entries and age groups
Every swimming entry carries an entry time, the swimmer's best recent time for that event. Zeetius Tournaments publishes a listing page for each meet with its events, sessions, venue and rules, and swimmers or their clubs enter and pay online. Eligibility is checked as entries are made, including the number of events a swimmer may enter.
Age-group meets are the backbone of competitive swimming. Age groups may be single ages, two-year bands or open categories, and the date on which age is calculated differs between federations. The age groups, the age calculation date and any qualifying or consideration times are set by the organiser for each meet rather than fixed by the software.
Clubs usually enter their swimmers in bulk, and team managers want one place to see who is entered in what. Each swimmer has one profile across all their events and meets, so a club's entries, a swimmer's entry times and their results history stay together from one season to the next.
Heats and lane seeding
Swimmers are seeded into heats by their entry times, with the fastest swimmers in the last heats and the fastest swimmer in each heat placed in a centre lane, the others spreading outwards by time. This keeps the fastest swimmers side by side and gives every heat an even shape. Zeetius builds seeded start lists from the confirmed entries and publishes them for each session.
Round structures differ by meet and by event. Many age-group meets swim timed finals, where the heats are the final and places come from the times across all heats. Larger meets swim heats and finals, and major championships add semi-finals in the shorter events. The rounds, the number of finalists and the qualification rule are configured per event.
Ties and withdrawals are part of every meet. Where two swimmers tie for the last place in a final, a swim-off may be needed, and where a finalist withdraws, the next swimmer moves up. These decisions are made by the referee, and the start lists can be updated and republished once they are confirmed.
Relays and officials
Relays are entered by clubs or teams. The freestyle relays are swum by four swimmers over the same stroke, while in the medley relay the order is backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Mixed relays, with two men and two women, are increasingly common. A team enters its relay, names the squad and confirms its swimmers and order before the declared deadline.
A meet relies on a team of technical officials, including the referee, the starter, stroke and turn judges and timekeepers. Zeetius Tournaments and Zeetius Federation accredit, nominate and allocate officials to sessions, so a meet manager knows who is on deck for each session and the federation keeps a record of every official's appointments.
Zet AI helps the meet run on time. It can build session schedules that respect rest times and avoid clashes for swimmers in several events, and it can estimate entries per event so the organiser books enough pool time and enough officials for the programme.
Results, rankings and records
Results are published event by event as soon as the officials confirm them, so swimmers, coaches and parents can see times and places without waiting for the sheets on the wall. Every participant can receive a certificate generated in bulk from the results. Live scoring for your meet can be discussed with our team.
Over a season, swims become rankings. Zeetius Federation prepares rank lists from real results by event, age group and gender, which is how a federation builds its season rankings, selects state and national teams and identifies swimmers who have met qualifying times. Each ranking can be traced back to the meets that produced it.
Records matter at every level of swimming. Meet records, championship records and age-group records can be kept alongside the results that set them, with the swimmer, the meet, the pool length and the date, so when a record falls it is recorded once and stays correct.
Clubs, coaching and federations
Swimmers are developed in clubs and academies over many years, from learn-to-swim groups to performance squads. Zeetius Academy manages swimmers, training groups, plans, attendance and assessments, so coaches can follow each swimmer's progress session by session. Fees, coach payroll and expense claims sit in the same system, and parents see their own child's attendance, assessments and fees.
Zeetius Federation registers swimmers, clubs and officials once and keeps them current through renewals, transfers and seasons, with fees paid online and reminders sent by email and SMS. National, state and district bodies each have their own access, so a district works on its own swimmers while the federation sees every member and every sanctioned meet.
Championships bring teams from across a region. Zeetius Connect accredits swimmers, coaches and officials online and manages accommodation, meals and transport, with QR validation for entry. Coaches and clubs can also list in the Zeetius Sports Directory, where parents looking for swimming lessons or a club nearby can find them.
