Badminton on Zeetius

Badminton tournament software and live scoring

Zeetius runs badminton from the entry form to the ranking list: events and age groups, seeded draws, court schedules, rally-by-rally scoring on the umpire's tablet and results that publish the moment a match ends. State badminton associations in India use it for their championships, ranking tournaments and member registration.

Badminton players competing in a doubles match on an indoor tournament court

Scored rally by rally

Umpires record every rally on the Umpire Assist tablet app, and the score reaches the live board, the stream and the results at the same moment.

Five events, every age group

Singles, doubles and mixed doubles across junior, senior and masters categories, each with its own entries, draw and schedule.

Zet AI on every live card

Live badminton cards open Zet AI analytics: win probability, score progression and momentum, updated as each point is scored.

Competition structure

How a badminton tournament is structured

A badminton championship is rarely one competition. It is up to five events, men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles, multiplied across age categories such as U11, U13, U15, U17, U19, seniors and masters. A state ranking tournament can easily hold forty separate draws, all sharing the same courts, officials and players.

Zeetius Tournaments treats each event and category as its own draw with its own entries, eligibility and schedule, while keeping the player record shared. A junior entered in U15 and U17 singles and U17 doubles appears once in the system, so clashes between her matches are visible before the schedule is published rather than discovered on the day.

Entries open on a listing page built for the event. Players enrol and pay online, date of birth is checked against the age category as they register, and doubles pairs are entered together so the draw never contains half a team.

  • Singles and doubles events. MS, WS, MD, WD and XD, each configured with its own entry fee, limits and draw size.
  • Age categories. Junior, senior and masters groups defined by your association's eligibility rules and cut-off dates.
  • Team championships. Inter-district or inter-club ties made up of several individual matches, scored match by match.

Draws and scheduling

Badminton draws, seeding and court schedules

Most badminton events are knockouts, with seeds placed in the draw and byes given to the top seeds when entries do not fill a power of two. Larger tournaments add qualifying rounds, and some junior and team events open with round-robin groups before a knockout stage. Zeetius Tournaments generates each of these formats and lets the referee adjust the draw before it is published.

Seeding can come from your own ranking list, so the players who earned their places are kept apart until the later rounds. Zet AI can also keep players from the same district or club apart in early rounds, which matters for the fairness of state and national events.

Scheduling is where badminton events are won or lost. A venue might run eight or twelve courts from morning to night, and a player in three events needs rest between matches. The scheduler respects rest times and player clashes across every court, and when a court runs late, matches can be moved to a free court and the change is published straight away.

Live scoring

Live badminton scoring under BWF rally rules

Badminton uses rally scoring: every rally wins a point, whoever served. A game is played to 21 points, a side must lead by two to win it from 20-all, and the first side to 30 wins if the game reaches 29-all. A match is the best of three games. Ends change after each game and at 11 points in a deciding game.

Arena by Zeetius captures this on the Umpire Assist tablet app. The umpire records the winner of each rally, and the app keeps track of the server, the service court, intervals and the end of each game, so the umpire's attention stays on the court. Scoring formats can be configured for events that use a different points target, such as short-format junior competitions.

Every point reaches the public live score page at the moment it is recorded. Fans and coaches following on /live/livescore see each court's current game score, earlier games and match status, and finished matches move to /live/results while the draw on /live/draws updates with the winner.

  • 21-point rally scoring. A point on every rally, games to 21, with the two-point lead and the cap at 30 handled automatically.
  • Best of three games. Game scores, intervals and change of ends tracked through to the deciding game.
  • Point-by-point record. Every rally is stored in sequence, which is what makes the score progression and match analysis possible.

Zet AI

Badminton match analytics and live win probability

Because each rally is recorded in order, a badminton match on Zeetius produces more than a final score. Tapping a live badminton card opens Zet AI analytics for that match: the win probability for each side, the score progression game by game and the momentum of the match as runs of points build and break.

Win probability in badminton changes sharply late in a game. Trailing 19-20 in a deciding game is a very different position from trailing by one point at 5-6, and the model reflects that. For commentators and streams, it gives a clear measure of how much a run of points has changed the match.

After the match, the same record serves coaches. A run of points conceded after the interval, or a pattern of losing long games, is visible from the point sequence without anyone keeping a manual chart. Academies on Zeetius Academy can bring these results into each athlete's progress record.

Federations and associations

Software for badminton associations and federations

Badminton associations in India run on Zeetius, including KBSA in Kerala (kbsa.co.in), the Orissa State Badminton Association (osbaodisha.org) and the Chhattisgarh Badminton Association (cgba.co.in). The Saudi Badminton Federation has also worked with the Zeetius team on its development efforts.

Zeetius Federation keeps one record for every player, club and technical official. Players register once and renew each season, district associations work on their own members, and the state association sees the whole picture. Umpires, service judges and referees are accredited and nominated to tournaments from the same record.

Results from sanctioned tournaments feed the association's ranking lists directly, so nobody retypes a scoreline into a spreadsheet. Certificates are generated for every participant from the results, and the association's public website can show its calendar, draws and rankings under its own name.

Streaming and venues

Streaming badminton courts and running the venue

Ztream by Zeetius streams several courts at once with the live score and graphics taken straight from the umpire's tablet. When a court has a stream mapped for the day, its live score card shows a YouTube badge, so a fan following the scores can watch that court without leaving the page.

Multi-day championships bring players, coaches and officials from across a state or country. Zeetius Connect accredits them online before they arrive and uses QR codes for venue entry, meals and transport, which keeps queues short at the start of each day.

Between tournaments, the same courts host coaching and club play. Courtz by Zeetius handles court booking with recurring slots for academy batches, and courts used by a Zeetius Tournaments event are blocked automatically, so a booking never collides with a championship.

FAQ

Badminton on Zeetius: questions, answered

Something else on your mind? Talk to our team.

Does Zeetius follow BWF badminton scoring?

Yes. Matches are scored as the best of three games to 21 points with rally scoring, a two-point lead from 20-all and a cap at 30. Other points targets can be configured for events that use them.

Can we run singles, doubles and mixed doubles in several age groups at one tournament?

Yes. Each event and age category has its own entries, draw and schedule, and a player entered in several events is held as one record so clashes are visible when the schedule is built.

How do umpires enter scores?

Umpires use the Umpire Assist tablet app in Arena by Zeetius and record the winner of each rally. The app tracks the server, intervals and game ends, and each point appears on the live score page straight away.

Where can players and fans follow badminton results?

Live matches are on /live/livescore, completed matches on /live/results, brackets on /live/draws and scheduled matches on /live/upcomingmatches, all updated from the scores recorded on court.

Which badminton associations use Zeetius?

Associations using Zeetius include KBSA in Kerala, the Orissa State Badminton Association and the Chhattisgarh Badminton Association, and the Saudi Badminton Federation has worked with the Zeetius team.

Can our ranking list be built from tournament results?

Yes. Zeetius Federation prepares rank lists from the results of your sanctioned tournaments, and those rankings can then be used to seed the draws of the next event.
