Netball on Zeetius
Netball is a team sport of seven positions, four quarters and a lot of fixtures. Zeetius Tournaments runs netball leagues and tournaments from team entries and rosters to fixtures, tables and finals, while Zeetius Federation and Zeetius Academy keep players, clubs, umpires and junior programmes in one place.
Every player on a team sheet is checked against age group and registration status before the first centre pass.
Season-long leagues, one-day round robins and finals series, each with the match length and table rules you choose.
Fixtures across several courts, with umpires nominated and allocated in the same schedule.
Positions and zones
Netball is played seven-a-side on a court divided into three thirds, with a shooting circle at each end. Each player wears a position bib, and the position decides which areas of the court they may enter. Only the goal shooter and goal attack can score, and only from inside their shooting circle.
Players may not run with the ball and must pass or shoot within three seconds of receiving it, which makes netball a game of quick passing and movement into space. A goal is worth one point in the standard game, play restarts with a centre pass that alternates between the teams, and the team with more goals at the end of the match wins.
Because positions are fixed to zones, team sheets matter. A coach names who starts in each bib, and changes between quarters are common. Recording the positions players actually played helps a club see who is developing in which role over a season.
Match and competition formats
An international netball match is played in four quarters of 15 minutes, with short intervals between quarters and a longer break at half-time. Most competitions below the elite level shorten the game. School and junior tournaments often play halves or shorter quarters so that every team plays several matches in a day, and some events use modified rules for younger players.
In Zeetius Tournaments the match length, the number of periods and the rules for a drawn match are set by the organiser for each competition. A one-day school tournament with short halves and a senior league with full quarters can run on the same platform, each recorded in its own format.
Netball competitions usually have many divisions at once: age groups from juniors to seniors, open and graded divisions, and in some events men's and mixed netball alongside women's. Each division is its own event under one tournament listing, with its own entry fee, eligibility rules and draw.
Leagues, pools and finals
Much of netball is played in leagues: club and district competitions that run every week through a season, with a table and often a finals series at the end. Zeetius Tournaments generates round-robin fixtures from the entries, publishes them in advance and updates the table as results come in.
Tournaments compress the same idea into a day or a weekend. Teams are seeded into pools, play each other in a round robin, and the leading teams go through to semi-finals and a final. The number of pools, the qualifiers from each pool and the knockout structure are configured for each event.
League tables in netball are separated in different ways. Competitions award points for a win and a draw, and break ties on goal difference, goal percentage or head-to-head results in the order their rules set. That order is configured for each competition, so the table matches the rules you publish. Zet AI can suggest balanced seeds and keep teams from the same club apart in the pools.
Courts and umpires
A netball tournament day is a grid of courts and time slots. Because matches have a fixed length, the schedule can be planned tightly, but teams in several divisions, shared umpires and rest between matches still need to be balanced. Zeetius Tournaments runs every court at once and keeps the schedule adjustable on the day.
Netball is controlled by two umpires, each responsible for one half of the court, supported by scorers and timekeepers. They are nominated and allocated to matches in the same system as the courts. Zet AI can suggest umpires by grade and availability, and keep an umpire away from matches involving their own club.
When a match is delayed or a team withdraws, fixtures can be moved to another court or slot and the published schedule updates for every team, coach and parent following the event. Umpire allocations move with the match, so the officials assigned to a fixture are told where and when it will now be played.
Live scores and results
Netball on Zeetius is scored live. The scorer at the courtside table enters each goal on the Zeetius multi-sport scoresheet, which is set up for the quarters or halves your competition plays. Families, coaches, club members and supporters who are not at the venue follow the match on the public live score page at zeetius.com/live/livescore, filtered to netball, as the goals go in.
Over a season, results become rankings. Zeetius Federation prepares rank lists from real results by age group and division, which is how an association grades teams into divisions for the next season, selects district and state squads or recognises its strongest clubs. Every ranking can be traced to the matches that produced it.
When the final whistle goes, the score entered at the courtside table is confirmed by the umpires and officials and published as the official result. League tables and pool standings update straight away, teams see their next fixture, court and opponent, and certificates for every participant are generated in bulk from the results.
Clubs, academies and federations
Netball runs on clubs, schools and volunteer committees. Zeetius Federation registers players, clubs, coaches and umpires once and keeps them current through renewals, transfers and seasons, with membership cards, online payments and automatic email and SMS reminders, so the registration secretary is not chasing forms each season.
Each tier of the structure can have its own access, so a club manages its own members, a district runs its own league and the national or state body sees every player and every sanctioned event in one view. Umpires are accredited, graded and allocated from the same records.
Junior netball is where most players start. Zeetius Academy manages athletes, batches, training plans, attendance and assessments, with fees and coach payroll in the same system, and parents see their own child's progress and fees. For multi-day championships, Zeetius Connect handles accreditation, accommodation, meals and transport for visiting teams.
