Rugby on Zeetius
Zeetius gives rugby unions, clubs and tournament organisers one place to run fifteens leagues, sevens festivals and age-grade competitions. Teams enter and register their squads online, fixtures and pools are generated and scheduled across pitches, referees are appointed, and results become league tables, rankings and certificates, while Zeetius Academy and Zeetius Federation look after players, coaches and clubs between matches.

Competition formats
Rugby union is played in two main forms. Fifteens is the full game, fifteen players a side over two halves of forty minutes at senior level, and it is usually organised as a league or a cup across a season. Sevens is played on the same size of pitch with seven players a side and much shorter halves, so a whole tournament can be completed in a day or a weekend.
The two forms need different competition structures. A fifteens season is built from weekly fixtures, home and away, with a league table and often play-offs at the end. A sevens tournament groups teams into pools that play each other, then sends the pool positions into knockout rounds, frequently with several trophies so every team keeps playing until the last day.
On Zeetius, the format of each competition is configured by the organiser: the number of pools, how many teams progress, whether a league plays once or twice, and how play-offs are seeded. Age-grade, women's, men's and veterans' competitions can each have their own format while running under one union's calendar.
Scoring and tables
Rugby union scores are built from four actions. A try, grounding the ball in the opponents' in-goal area, is worth five points, and the conversion kick that follows is worth two. A penalty goal and a drop goal are each worth three. A penalty try awards seven points without a conversion, and the final score of every match records these elements as well as the total.
League tables in rugby rarely count wins alone. Many competitions award match points for a win or a draw and add bonus points, typically for scoring a set number of tries or for losing by a narrow margin, but the exact rules differ between unions, levels and seasons. On Zeetius, match points, bonus points and the order of tie-breakers are configured for each competition, so the table follows your regulations.
Results are published as soon as the referee and the match officials confirm the score, and the league table updates from the confirmed results. Live scoring for your rugby format, including how tries, conversions and penalties are recorded during a match, can be discussed with our team.
Team entries
A rugby competition starts with team entries. Zeetius Tournaments publishes a listing page for each event with its dates, venue, categories and rules, takes entries and payments online and checks eligibility as teams register, so a tournament secretary is not chasing squad lists and fees by email in the week before kick-off.
Rugby squads are large, and eligibility matters. Age-grade competitions depend on players' dates of birth, and many competitions require players to be registered with the club they represent. Because squads are built from players registered in Zeetius Federation, a team's entry can be checked against each player's age and registration before the first match rather than after a protest.
Categories are set per competition, by age group, gender and level. A union can run under-14, under-16 and under-18 festivals, women's sevens and senior fifteens from the same entry system, and each category keeps its own fixtures, results and table.
Fixtures and pitches
Fifteens and sevens schedules are planned differently. A fifteens league needs a season of weekly fixtures that respects home grounds, byes and representative weekends. Zeetius Tournaments generates the fixture list from the teams in each division and keeps it current when matches are postponed or moved, so clubs and supporters always see the latest dates.
A sevens tournament packs many short matches onto a few pitches in a day. Teams need rest between matches, pitches need to keep turning over, and finals have to finish on time. Schedules can be planned across several pitches at once, and Zet AI can build a pitch schedule that respects rest times and avoids clashes, then propose changes when matches overrun.
Referees and assistant referees are appointed from the same system. Zeetius Federation accredits match officials, records their grades and allocates them to fixtures, and Zet AI can suggest appointments by grade, availability and conflicts of interest, so a referee is not sent to a match involving their own club.
Clubs and player development
Rugby clubs develop players over many years, from mini rugby and age-grade sides to senior teams. Zeetius Academy manages athletes, batches, training plans, attendance and assessments, so a club or academy can see each player's progress and plan the next block of training from real records rather than a coach's memory.
Fees, coach payroll and expense claims sit in the same system as the coaching. Parents of junior players see their own child's attendance, assessments and fees, and nothing else, while coaches record sessions from the mobile app at the training ground instead of copying notes into a spreadsheet after the session.
Zet AI answers questions about an academy's own data, such as which players have attended most consistently or which age group is due its next assessment. Clubs and coaches can also list in the Zeetius Sports Directory, where players and parents looking for rugby nearby can find them.
Unions and federations
A rugby union works through regions, districts and clubs. Zeetius Federation registers players, clubs and officials once and keeps them current through renewals, transfers and seasons, with membership cards and a complete history for every player. Each tier can have its own access, so a club manages its own players while the union sees every registration and every sanctioned competition.
Season results become rankings and selection evidence. Zeetius Federation prepares rank lists from real results, generates certificates for every participant and publishes them on the union's own branded website. Zet AI can highlight players and teams climbing fastest across districts and age groups, and answer questions about participation in plain language.
Representative tournaments bring teams, officials and guests to one venue for several days. Zeetius Connect accredits them online, manages accommodation, meals and transport, and validates entry and coupons with QR codes. Ztream by Zeetius streams several pitches at once, with sponsor placements, interviews and highlights ready to share while the tournament is still running.
